Samenvatting	Nearly ninety drawings by Leonardo da Vinci have been brought together for the exhibition at the Louvre. It includes all the drawings held by the museum, as well as some sixty other sheets from French and foreign collections. This exceptional collection, to which have been added some forty drawings by the artist's students or circle, is the subject of an exhaustive study. Twelve precious notebooks, consisting of manuscripts and drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, held at the Library of the Institut de France, are also presented, for the first time in fifty years. They allow for a fascinating confrontation between Leonardo's two forms of writing: that of the painter and that of the scholar, the two modes of thought being inseparable from one another. The texts in this book constitute a well-documented synthesis of the work undertaken on this Lombard school at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries.
