Samenvatting	To this day, no one knows where the itinerant photographer Friedrich Pöhler came from to Wilhelmsdorf in Upper Swabia in 1909, why he set up a photographic studio there of all places, and where he moved to after less than two years of settling down. Even the value of his Wilhelmsdorf photographic legacy wasn't immediately recognized when the approximately 350 glass plate negatives were discovered a few years ago. It was all the more surprising, then, when the images, now stored in the basement of an antique dealer, were finally examined more closely. They are far more than just a treasure trove of old photographs for the nostalgic gaze. Pöhler was a master and artist in his profession; he created certain pictorial traditions that still resonate today and ambitiously captured the ways of life of the people of Wilhelmsdorf and their neighbors. A discovery.
