Samenvatting	Eduardo Elisio Machado Souto de Moura was born in 1952 in Oporto, Portugal. He studied architecture at the School of Fine Arts in Oporto and received his degree in 1980. He worked with Alvaro Siza from 1974 to 1979 and has spent the last twenty years teaching and lecturing throughout Europe and in the United States. His work has appeared in various publications and exhibitions. He has been awarded several prestigious European prizes. His recent work includes houses in the Rua Lugarintho, the renovation of the Municipal Market in Braga, the Portuguese Pavilion at the Expo 2000 in Hanover, Germany, and a project for the Braga Stadium.
