SamenvattingThe maps collected in this volume (approximately 150-170 works) reflect the knowledge and knowledge accumulated over the centuries, which the people living in Europe acquired during their travels, observations, and later their precise scientific measurements. A well-meaning "European picture book" similar to this volume has not been published so far. The volume includes the first map of Europe, as well as the first map of Europe in Hungarian, which appeared in the middle of the 18th century in the book of the famous preacher Péter Bod, and whose existence we didn't even know about until then. The material of the volume is made from unique pieces of the National Széchényi Library. The volume is published in Hungarian, English and German, in a size of 28 X 38 cm, with a recommendation and foreword by Dr. István Klinghammer, rector of ELTE, edited by Katalin Plihál, head of the OSZK Map Library. The excellent quality is guaranteed by the fact that the photos and the printing works are carried out by the same team, under the help of which the album "Treasures from the Nation's Library" that won the audience prize, the Fitz prize and the printing level prize of this year's Szép Magyar Könyv competition was created.
