| Samenvatting | In her photographs, Ahlam Shibli, born in Palestine in 1970, deals with the current living conditions of the Palestinian population living in Israel. Shibli, herself a Palestinian, shows the constant conflict that arises from living together in a small space. Her photos illustrate individual power constellations between the two population groups: the focus is on Palestinian members of the Israeli army. Shibli uses different stylistic guidelines: from the grainy black and white snapshot to the colored close-up. Her works, which move between documentation and portraits of pride and insecurity, vividly illuminate life situations and needs in an environment that is by no means peaceful. |
