His assertion that THE FORTUNE TELLER was a forgery was rejected by all the leading art experts of the day. This book ART OF THE FORGER is a culmination of Wright's arguments that despite all the physical evidence and art expert's opinions that THE FORTUNE TELLER is authentic, they are wrong and he is right. A controversial book which argues that the painting The Fortune Teller, attributed to the French painter Georges de la Tour (1593-1652), is a twentieth century forgery.
